How to convert a YouTube Short to MP3
Start with one short video
Paste a public YouTube watch, Shorts or youtu.be link. Continue to Creator Studio and sign in to import it. If YouTube blocks the import, upload your local video instead.
Choose which seconds to keep
Use the Sections panel to set the start and end of the sound bite. You can keep the whole source or join selected sections before extracting audio.
Extract the soundtrack
Select MP3 and run Extract audio. Play the completed file before downloading it, or use the MP3 as an insert in another video project.

A single YouTube video can be opened from its Shorts, watch or shortened URL. Playlists, channels, livestreams and full-length podcast processing are outside this workflow.

The current editor accepts videos up to 180 seconds and 100 MB. Cloud imports, AI processing and exports require sign-in. Portrait video exports use a 720 × 1280 canvas. Only upload material that can be public: the editor uses a public asset bucket.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert YouTube Shorts to MP3?
Yes, when the public video can be imported. The source must be no longer than 180 seconds and no larger than 100 MB. A local MP4, MOV, M4V or WebM upload also works.
Can I convert a long YouTube video?
The current editor accepts source videos up to 3 minutes. Selecting a short section does not bypass that source limit. Trim your own longer recording before uploading it.
Why might a public YouTube link fail?
YouTube can require verification or restrict access from the processing server. Private, age-restricted and unavailable videos are not supported. Upload a video file you can access if the link cannot be imported.
Does the MP3 contain only music?
It contains the mixed soundtrack, including speech, music and effects. Vocal separation and song identification are not included. Only reuse audio you own or have permission to use.
