0:00If you wanna be a successful content creator,
0:01you have to be a good storyteller.
0:03It's non negotiable at this stage.
0:06And I'm gonna teach you a really simple
0:07beginners trick to telling a very impactful story.
0:10Because no matter what kind of content you create,
0:12if you weave storytelling into it,
0:13it's only going to improve that content.
0:15Storytelling content tends to have a higher watch time,
0:18which the algorithm loves.
0:19It's gonna push it out further,
0:20you'll get more views. Also,
0:21storytelling builds trust,
0:23build an immediate emotional connection with your audience.
0:25And it tends to be more memorable than other forms of content as well.
0:28If you're giving people facts and information,
0:31you're gonna make them think.
0:32But storytelling makes people feel.
0:33And it's that feeling that gets people to take action,
0:36to get them to follow you by what you're selling.
0:38So the key to a really good story is visualization.
0:40Getting the person watching your video to be able to visualise their story
0:43and put themselves in your shoes.
0:45And I'm gonna talk you through how to do this,
0:46cause it is very simple. Whenever you get somebody to visualise what's going on,
0:50you're taking them out of scrolling mode,
0:52they're immersing your story and way more likely to stay.
0:55In order to do this,
0:56you need to anchor your story at a really specific moment in time
0:59and you need to describe what is going on in the story.
1:02When was this taking place?
1:04What was happening? Who was there?
1:06What were you thinking? What were you feeling?
1:07And crucially, what were people saying?
1:09So I'll give you an example of this,
1:11and this is very much off the top of my head,
1:13but I'm gonna think of a moment where I could tell a story from.
1:15So in October 2024,
1:19I was sitting in the boardroom of an office where I'd worked for four years,
1:23and my boss, a man that I really looked up to and admired,
1:26was staring me straight in the face.
1:27I, I couldn't really read its expression,
1:29but I knew it was not good.
1:31And my thoughts were racing at this stage,
1:33and my hands, I was in such a cold sweat,
1:35like, I knew this wasn't gonna be good news.
1:37And he looked straight at me and he said, Lana,
1:39I know what you've done. We both know what you've done.
1:42I'm actually kinda proud of that.
1:43I think that was pretty good.
1:44The key to this is making sure that when you're describing what's going on,
1:46you're only describing things that are pertinent to the story.
1:48I wouldn't say, like,
1:49I was sitting in the boardroom,
1:51and it was a long white table,
1:52and I was at the other side,
1:54and it was raining, and it was a Tuesday.
1:56None of those things matter.
1:57And the more you drag things out,
1:58you're gonna lose people. And very crucially,
2:00you need to include language that feels raw.
2:03And Rough and Ready and authentic.
2:05If I was to say something like,
2:07and I was incandescent with rage,
2:09using language like that that doesn't feel real and doesn't feel emotional
2:13is gonna take people out of the story.
2:15They're gonna take a second to process what you're thinking,
2:17and then it's gonna put them back in scrolling mood.
2:19And a lot of people believe at that point,
2:20whenever people are scripting their stories and using AI or chatty BT to do it,
2:24that's what the real differentiator is,
2:26because it can't really use that Rough and Ready,
2:28authentic language as naturally.
2:30There is a method for storytelling that I teach inside the Content Club,
2:33which is my course in community for content creators.
2:35It's called the mess storytelling method,
2:37and it uses this. It anchors your story at a really specific moment in time,
2:41but it's also about what you do after that,
2:43how you structure the rest of the story
2:45to make sure that there's pay off for your audience.
2:47If you want to know more about this and how to create good content in general,

Viral Breakdown

Hook (first 3 seconds)

  • Verbatim opening line: "If you wanna be a successful content creator, you have to be a good storyteller. It's non negotiable at this stage."
  • Hook pattern: Bold claim + urgency ("non negotiable at this stage")
  • Why it stops scrolling: It targets a specific pain point (aspiring creators who feel stuck) with a declarative, almost confrontational statement. The word "non negotiable" creates a fear of missing out (FOMO) — if you skip this, you're failing.

Emotional Rhythm

  • Beat 1 — Curiosity + Authority: "I'm gonna teach you a really simple beginners trick..." — promises a low-effort solution.
  • Beat 2 — Tension (Algorithm Fear): "Higher watch time, which the algorithm loves" — triggers anxiety about performance.
  • Beat 3 — Emotional Contrast: "Facts make people think. Storytelling makes people feel." — sharp binary that creates a "aha" moment.
  • Beat 4 — Suspense (The Twist): "I'll give you an example... off the top of my head" — feels raw, unscripted, builds trust.
  • Beat 5 — Climax (The Reveal): "He said, Lana, I know what you've done." — dramatic pause, unresolved tension.
  • Beat 6 — Relief + Validation: "I think that was pretty good." — self-deprecating humor releases tension, makes creator relatable.
  • Beat 7 — Call to Action (CTA): "Join the Content Club" — direct, no hesitation.

Keyword Density

  • "Storytelling" (used 8+ times) — drives algorithmic reach (high-value topic in creator economy) + emotional pull (promises connection).
  • "Visualize / visualisation" (used 4 times) — algorithmic keyword (engagement metric) + emotional pull (immersion).
  • "Feel / feeling" (used 4 times) — emotional pull (triggers empathy, memory).
  • "Raw / Rough and Ready / authentic" (used 3 times) — emotional pull (differentiates from AI-generated content).
  • "Anchor" (used 2 times) — algorithmic keyword (specificity = watch time).
  • "Algorithm" (used 2 times) — algorithmic keyword (directly addresses platform mechanics).
  • "Trust" (used 2 times) — emotional pull (builds credibility).
  • "Moment in time" (used 2 times) — emotional pull + algorithmic (specificity = retention).

Why It Spreads

  1. The "Non Negotiable" Frame — The opening line creates a binary: either you tell stories or you fail. This triggers a "click to learn" reflex. Concrete line: "It's non negotiable at this stage."
  2. The Live Example (No Script) — The creator performs the technique in real time ("off the top of my head"), which proves the method is learnable and low-effort. Concrete line: "I'm gonna think of a moment where I could tell a story from."
  3. The "AI vs. Human" Contrast — She explicitly calls out AI-generated storytelling as inferior ("can't use that Rough and Ready, authentic language"), which appeals to creators who fear being replaced. Concrete line: "That's what the real differentiator is, because it can't really use that Rough and Ready, authentic language as naturally."
  4. The Cliffhanger + CTA Combo — The story ends mid-drama ("I know what you've done"), creating a curiosity gap that drives comments and saves. Concrete line: "He looked straight at me and he said, Lana, I know what you've done." Then immediately pivots to CTA.

What You Can Steal

  1. Start with a "Non Negotiable" Claim — Open with a declarative, slightly aggressive statement that implies the viewer is missing something critical. Example: "If you're not doing X, you're wasting your time."
  2. Perform the Technique Live — Instead of explaining a method, demonstrate it in real time with a raw, unscripted example. This proves it's simple and builds trust.
  3. Use a "Cliffhanger + CTA" Pivot — End your example story at the peak of tension, then immediately transition to your offer. The unresolved curiosity makes the CTA feel like a solution, not a pitch.
