0:00If you look at the news today,
0:01you see the exact same thing over and over again.
0:04Police brutality, systemic racism,
0:06and a government that ignores its own people.
0:09But what if I told you Michael Jackson predicted this exact reality 30 years ago.
0:14And wrote a song so dangerous
0:16the media tried to completely bury it?
0:181995, Michael Jackson dropped.
0:23This wasn't his usual heal the world peace anthem.
0:26This was raw, furious,
0:28and politically explosive.
0:30He was screaming for the marginalized chanting.
0:37To make it hit even harder,
0:38he went to the favelas of Brazil and teamed up with Olodum,
0:42a massive Afro Brazilian drum corps,
0:44creating a beat that literally sounded like a march to war.
0:48The Brazilian government was so terrified of the truth he was exposing,
0:51they actually tried to ban him from entering the country.
0:54The government wasn't his only enemy.
0:56Immediately, the song faced a massive wall of censorship.
0:59Back home, mainstream media tried to crush it before it even hit the charts. Why?
1:03Because of two specific words Michael used in the original lyrics.
1:07The media accused him of hate speech.
1:09Michael played that he used those bad words to highlight the pain of prejudice,
1:13not to support it. But the damage was done.
1:15He had to re record the track,
1:16hiding the words with audio thuds.
1:25But the controversy was nothing compared to what happened next.
1:28Michael didn't just film one video for this song.
1:32He filmed two. The second video,
1:34Was so graphic, so anti system,
1:36so controversial that television stations completely banned it from the airwaves.
1:41Hit that follow button right now
1:42because you won't believe what Michael put in that second video.
1:46See you around for part two.
