YouTube subtitle translator for short videos

Prepare a short video for viewers in another language. Review translated captions line by line and take an editable SRT or a subtitled MP4 back to your publishing workflow.

Your link carries over to the studio. Sign in if prompted, and the import continues automatically after your submission.

Public links only. YouTube may block downloads or ask for verification. If importing fails, upload a video file you can access.

How to translate YouTube subtitles

  1. Choose your video and target language

Paste a public YouTube link for a source up to 3 minutes and choose the language below. Import it in Creator Studio, or upload a video and an SRT from your device.

  2. Read, generate or import captions

Read available source captions, generate them from speech when recognition is available, or import SRT. Translate existing subtitles and review names, wording and timing.

  3. Download the version you need

Save the translated SRT for a subtitle track, or burn the translated captions into a new MP4. Preview the processed result before using it on your channel.

Make subtitles work across languages

A translation you can revise

Correct terminology and speaker names directly in the timed text. Change each start and end time rather than accepting a fixed, uneditable translation.

Separate subtitles or visible captions

SRT keeps the text separate from the picture. Burning it into MP4 makes the translation visible as part of the exported video. You choose the output in the editor.

Replace text already in the picture

Optionally smooth the region containing old burned-in subtitles before adding a new language. Nearby pixels fill the area, so detailed backgrounds can look stretched or soft.

Before you start

The current editor accepts videos up to 180 seconds and 100 MB. Cloud imports, AI processing and exports require sign-in. Portrait video exports use a 720 × 1280 canvas. Only upload material that can be public: the editor uses a public asset bucket.

Frequently asked questions

Does this change captions on the original YouTube upload?

No. This creates files for your own publishing workflow. Download the SRT or MP4 and add it to your channel yourself; the tool does not edit an existing upload or publish automatically.

Can I translate a video without source captions?

You can generate captions from clear speech when the recognition service is available, import your own SRT or type lines manually. Source captions are imported only when the platform makes them accessible.

Does it translate the voice as well?

The tool translates subtitle text. It does not generate dubbing or clone a voice. To use your own translated recording, upload it as MP3 in Timed inserts.

Can I use it for a full lecture?

The source limit is 180 seconds and 100 MB. Use a short excerpt from your own material. Cloud imports, translation and video exports require sign-in; a blocked link can be replaced with a file upload.
