0:00Codex gets at the part of the world that MCP
0:02And APIs are never gonna get at.
0:04So the Codex launch that happened just a few days ago
0:07is really the story of the Codex team
0:10discovering that you can do a whole lot more
0:14if the agent can just use the computer.
0:17If the agent can just do what you do and not bother you,
0:20and do it in the background and do it fast and do it reliably,
0:24then the world is your oyster.
0:26You don't have to depend on when you have an API
0:28Connection to an agent. You don't have to depend on a fancy MCP
0:30Server that tells the agent what tools it can use.
0:33All you have to do is say, hey,
0:35go do this. And that's a different bet on the future of work that open AI
0:39Has versus what the Claude team and Anthropic has.
0:41Cause Anthropic is really betting on a more specific future of work.
0:45They're betting that you can define what you want done,
0:48that you can tie into MCP
0:50Servers or file systems to get it done,
0:52and that you can specify that output clearly enough
0:55that the agent can go do that.
0:57Codex doesn't assume that anymore,
0:58not since this launch. Codex is assuming you're gonna have a general purpose
1:03and the agent will have to figure it out now.
1:05That sounds a lot like the Vague intent that so many of us bring to work.
1:11And that's why I think the Codex launch is so interesting,
1:14because computer use really does work now.
1:17Yes, I know you might not think it,
1:18but I have tried it. It is fast,
1:21it is reliable. It is not kidding around.
1:24I can get stuff that the Claude computer use tool just will not get
1:28and I can get it fast. And with scheduling
1:32the agent can just go and get this stuff for you on your own
1:35without bothering you.
1:36And you don't have to stare at the agent doing stuff and wonder
1:39why am I doing this? This is so pointless.
1:41That's all gone now. Codex solved for that.
1:44And so I think that this is the first tip of the iceberg
1:48toward a different future of work.
1:49And I'm really curious to see where the Codex team goes with this next.
