0:04I was speaking part 3. Well,
0:06I believe adversity plays a crucial role in personal growth
0:11because it pushes us out of our comfort zones
0:15and forces us to become stronger.
0:18Let me share a personal story.
0:20In 1995, when I first moved to the US as a new student,
0:25a newcomer, I faced many challenges,
0:28especially with language barriers and adapting to a new environment.
0:34I was often bullied in school
0:37because of the way I spoke and the way I looked.
0:40I felt completely isolated and discouraged.
0:44There were times when I was too embarrassed to speak in class.
0:49I knew what I wanted to say,
0:51but the words just wouldn't come out.
0:54And slowly that silence started to define me.
0:59At one point, I had a realization.
1:02I realized I couldn't control my situation,
1:06but I could choose how I responded to it.
1:09So I took actions. I started small.
1:12I listened. I repeated.
1:14I practiced every single day through movies,
1:20TV shows, newspapers,
1:22even textbook pages. I mean,
1:25anything I could get my hands on,
1:27anything I can learn from.
1:29And to be honest, it wasn't easy.
1:31There were setbacks. There were moments I wanted to quit,
1:34but I didn't. I kept going.
1:37I kept pushing myself. And looking back now,
1:40that chapter of my life, it didn't break me.
1:44It built me.
1:46It taught me that growth doesn't come from comfort.
1:50It comes from struggle, from showing up.
1:53When it's hard from continuing,
1:55when it's uncomfortable. Adversity doesn't just build skills,
2:00it builds resilience. It builds inner strength.
2:04So what I have Learned is that challenges do not define us,
2:09they refine us. And without those moments,
2:13I would never have discovered what I'm truly capable of becoming.
2:19So if you're still on your journey of learning English,
2:23don't stop. Don't quit.
2:26Keep going.
2:28Stay positive. Stay consistent.
2:31Stay patient. Trust the process.
