0:00I think one of the things that I love
0:02more than all of the stuff I'm passionate about
0:05is probably talking about the stuff that I'm passionate about,
0:07because I just feel like I'm a person who loves things so deeply.
0:10And over the years I've been alive,
0:12I've been creating sort of a collage of my personality,
0:15full of things that made me who I am today.
0:18So this poem is called My Favourites.
0:21People ask why I choose the things that I choose,
0:24why I hold on to them, why my favourites feel heavier than preferences,
0:27why they sound like stories instead of answers.
0:30But I don't love things lightly.
0:32I love the way a scar loves the skin,
0:34because it remembers what survived.
0:36My favourite animal is an elephant.
0:38Because once, when I was small enough to believe nothing could be lost forever,
0:41I lost one. Somewhere far from home,
0:44in a place that smelled like sun and dust,
0:47my elephant slipped from my hands.
0:49I cried, the kind of cry that doesn't know language yet,
0:52the kind that keeps echoing long after childhood.
0:54I tried to replace it. I bought others that looked familiar.
0:58Soft ears, stitched eyes
0:59and borrowed comfort. But none of them knew me,
1:02not the way the first one did.
1:03So now I will ink it into my skin,
1:05not because I lost it, but because I Learned how to miss.
1:09Blue is my favourite colour,
1:11because love once looked back at Me through it
1:13because the sky Learned his name before I ever did.
1:16Blue is the colour of the eyes that stayed too long in my memory.
1:18Of promises that felt real in the moment
1:20of the way the world looks right before you realise you're already falling.
1:24It reminds me of him. Not the hurt and not the ending,
1:27but the way my heart knew how to open.
1:30My favourite song is November Air,
1:33because November taught me how a season can hold a person.
1:36Because there was a night where the stars felt close enough to listen,
1:39where a blanket and a picnic and a song felt like forever.
1:41He told me it reminded him of me.
1:43And now every November the air carries his voice in it,
1:47not calling me back, but just reminding me that loved ones chose me too.
1:51My favourite verse is Romans 12 2.
1:54Because god found me at my lowest without needing my permission.
1:56Because a voice called when I had nothing left to say
1:59and read words that felt older than my pain.
2:02That I didn't have to become what hurt me.
2:04That renewal was holy, that transformation didn't mean losing myself.
2:08That night, faith stopped being abstract.
2:10It sounded like proof.
2:13My favourite princess is Belle,
2:14because she loved before it was safe and Learned before it was easy.
2:17Because she saw goodness where others only saw damage.
2:20Because she believed in transformation and refused to abandon who she was.
2:23To earn it,
2:25she read while the world misunderstood her,
2:28waited while love Learned how to grow,
2:30and walked towards her future without letting bitterness write her ending.
2:34She reminds me that loving deeply is not the same as staying broken.
2:37All of my favourites come from places that hurt
2:40or loved, or did both at once.
2:42They are not random, but they are evidence.
2:44They prove that I take what tried to break me
2:46and turn it into something I can carry.
2:49That I remember who I was by honouring what shaped me.
2:52I'm made of elephants and verses of Blue Skies and November Nights
2:56and stories I survived and songs that still know my name.
3:00And maybe that's what it means to heal.
3:01Not forgetting what hurt, but choosing to love
3:04what taught you how deeply you could truly feel.

Viral Breakdown

Hook (first 3 seconds)

  • Verbatim opening: "I think one of the things that I love more than all of the stuff I'm passionate about is probably talking about the stuff that I'm passionate about, because I just feel like I'm a person who loves things so deeply."
  • Hook pattern: Scene + emotional confession (self-reflective, vulnerable, poetic)
  • Why it stops scrolling: The speaker breaks the fourth wall with raw, unfiltered self-awareness. The repetition of "passionate" and "love" signals depth, not surface-level content. Viewers sense a genuine emotional payoff is coming, not a listicle.

Emotional Rhythm

  • Beat 1 – Curiosity: "People ask why I choose the things I choose… why my favourites feel heavier than preferences." — Sets a philosophical, relatable question.
  • Beat 2 – Tension (loss): "I lost one… I cried, the kind of cry that doesn't know language yet." — Childhood grief, visceral and universal.
  • Beat 3 – Resonance (memory): "Blue is my favourite colour, because love once looked back at me through it." — Romantic nostalgia, bittersweet.
  • Beat 4 – Suspense (faith): "My favourite verse is Romans 12:2… god found me at my lowest." — Spiritual turn, unexpected depth.
  • Beat 5 – Climax (transformation): "I take what tried to break me and turn it into something I can carry." — The thesis lands. Healing = reclamation.
  • Beat 6 – Resolution (empowerment): "Not forgetting what hurt, but choosing to love what taught you how deeply you could truly feel." — Final emotional release.

Why It Spreads

  1. Universal emotional scaffolding — The poem uses specific, sensory memories (elephant, blue eyes, November air) that feel personal yet archetypal. Viewers project their own losses and loves onto the narrative. Line: "I take what tried to break me and turn it into something I can carry."
  2. Rhythmic, shareable structure — Each stanza follows the same pattern: "My favourite [X] is [Y] because [story]." This makes it easy to quote, remix, or repurpose. Line: "My favourite animal is an elephant. Because once, when I was small enough to believe nothing could be lost forever, I lost one."
  3. Emotional arc that rewards attention — The video starts with vulnerability, builds through specific grief, then lands on a redemptive thesis. Viewers feel they "earned" the catharsis. Climax: "I take what tried to break me and turn it into something I can carry."
  4. Algorithm-friendly keywords — "Healing," "favourites," "story," "love," "loss" are high-traffic, low-competition emotional niches. The title "My Favourites" is both searchable and curiosity-driven.
  5. Relatability without being generic — The speaker uses concrete imagery (elephant, blue eyes, November night) but the emotions (grief, nostalgia, faith, transformation) are universally felt. Viewers tag friends who "love deeply."

What You Can Steal

  1. The "Favourites" frame — Structure a video around 3–5 specific favourites (song, color, book, place, person) and attach a mini-story to each. This creates a natural, repeatable format that viewers can imitate or remix.
  2. The "because" bridge — After stating a preference, immediately follow with "because [specific memory]." This turns a list into a narrative and triggers emotional resonance. Example: "My favourite song is X because Y happened."
  3. The redemptive pivot — End every emotional story with a lesson that reframes pain as growth. Use the phrase "Not [what hurt], but [what taught you]." This gives viewers a takeaway they can screenshot or quote.
